A Practical Approach to GDPR Compliance
Team BDS have spent a significant amount of time reviewing and making sense of the emerging GDPR requirements. While 25th of May is looming, like most compliance requirements, this one can also be broken into its constituent elements.
Firstly, there are “Compliance Rules” issued by the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
Secondly, there is a need to establish awareness, coupled with appropriate Training and Education concerning the compliance mechanisms. This most likely will span both “connected parties” eg employees and clients/customers.
The third and final leg is the implementation and “making good” the compliance requirements, as well as having the ability to maintain compliance on an ongoing basis.
Implementation can consist of developing a combination of mechanisms such as “Disclosures”, Policies, and Procedures.
These will subsequently be linked to various data storage mechanisms, such as electronic and manual data storage compliance requirements.
