Nomadic Foods Limited

Building the organisational capacity and operating model to deliver sustained, innovation-led growth

From 2018, Team BDS partnered with Nomadic Foods to re-engineer processes, accelerate NPD and strengthen digitalisation. Following a 2020 growth review, B-PODS™ was deployed end-to-end to build capability and structures for 15% CAGR ambitions.

The background

Nomadic produces a range of dairy-based products in Killygordon and is the number one yogurt brand in the convenience and impulse channel across the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The challenge

Initially the involvement with Nomadic Foods back in 2018 entailed deploying elements of the BPODS methodology mainly under the headings of “Process Re-Engineering and New Product Development and some Digitalisation. However, by 2020 after leading a Strategic Growth review of the business a revised objective was identified:

The approach

Team BDS applied the first stage of our proprietary B-PODS™ process (Business Modelling) to help identify the key organizational challenges and how much growth could be achieved organically and the remainder through innovation, This included an initial assessment of what was required by way of additional production capability, associated infrastructure and in particular, new process and technology that would be required to deliver on the innovation agenda.

The outcome

As a result of applying the B-PODS™ methodology over a 2-3 year period, the Company established robust foundations to achieve its strategic growth objectives encompassing its Business Model, Core Process Re-Engineering, Organizational Structure, Enhanced Digitalisation including a fully digitalised Scoreboard with core metrics and KPI’s all linked to a self-perpetuating model of business management.

Team BDS have been trusted advisors over a period of nearly 15 years as we navigated the challenge of making the necessary periodic step change to our business to enable the profitable delivery of our growth aspirations. They have been instrumental in helping the business embed the necessary organizational resilience as a foundation for the next 10+ years of growth in Killygordon, Co. Donegal.
